A prize purse of $195,000 will be on offer at the Leeton Soldiers Club TAB race meeting hosted by Leeton Jockey Club on Tuesday 22 September.

The seven-race program will feature the Leeton Soldiers Club Stan Axtill Memorial Benchmark 82 handicap of 1150m along with the Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1600m and 1050m Country Boosted Maiden Handicap, both carrying $30,000 in prizemoney.

With full TAB facilities under cover, the race meeting has free entry to the public with gates open at 12pm, and a full bar and canteen in operation.

Nominations close on 16 September and acceptances to be declared 18 September.

Leeton Jockey Club president Grant Fitzsimon said the track was looking a picture and the meeting was expected to be well supported by trainers, owners and jockeys from throughout southern NSW and Victoria.

“We have completed some structural improvements around the course including the installation of an irrigation pump and an outside running rail in front of the grandstand,” Mr Fitzsimon said.

“As our TAB race meeting has been moved to a Tuesday, we consider it an opportunity for all those who have a planned day off work to have a great day out at the races with their friends.

“There will also be plenty of opportunity to get out the on-trend spring fashions and bring a platter for a picnic on the lawns in the spring weather.”

The autumn meeting for the 2027 Leeton Cup has been tentatively set for 17 April.
