The Narrandera Fishing Club, in conjunction with the Morundah Community Committee, have joined forces once again to run the Morundah Carpathon this year, on the back of the successful running of this event last year.
Up until last year, the Carpathon had been in recess for a period of 10 years and there was a groundswell of support from within the local community to resurrect the event. So the Carpathon was reinstated onto last year’s calendar of activities which resulted in the event taking 110 registrations, in which 44 were children 16 years of age and under.
This year, the Carpathon will run from 12 noon on Friday 30 October through to 11am Sunday 1 November.
Entry cost will be $25 per person, with a limit of $40 per family - children 16 years and under are free.
Prizemoney totalling around $2000 is on offer as follows:
● Open category for the overall biggest single carp (fork length) $500
● Junior 16 yrs and under biggest single carp (fork length) $200
● All carp caught $1 a head
● Open category for the mystery length carp (fork length) - mystery prize
● Open category for the biggest redfin caught (fork length) - mystery prize.
NSW DPIRD (ie NSW Fisheries) will be present - with prizes and giveaways.
(Please note that fork length is the measurement from the tip of the nose to the base of the fin).
● Registration will be at the Morundah Recreation Grounds
● Measuring of carp will also be at the Recreation Grounds
● Presentation will be held at the Pub on Sunday at 12 noon
● Morundah Community Committee will operate a canteen at the Recreation Grounds - bait worms will be available for purchase at a reasonable cost
● There is no internet connection or ATM facilities available, so please bring cash.
● Free camping, hot showers and toilets will be available to competitors at the Recreation Grounds
Posters and registration forms along with the terms and conditions for the event will be distributed around the town.
All enquiries are to be directed to the competition director Des Edwards on 0429 043 721, or to the Fishing Club secretary-treasurer Terry Lawrence on 0427 259 824.
