The swimmer of the year awards for the Narrandera Swimming Club were announced at the club’s presentation function last week.
Swimmers of the Year were Jack Ferguson and Billy Jess who both met all aspects of the criteria - positive attitude, attend training and time trial nights, swim all strokes at carnivals and attend three-plus SISA swimming carnivals.
Selection was done by the coaches and committee.
Jack was champion of his school carnival and has been improving every session and getting better times. He has achieved his goal of getting all his strokes under one minute.
Billy was champion of his school carnival and runner-up at his zone carnival. He has made the Speedo and Brophy team and has trained hard all season.
Sonny Jess was awarded the Swimming Point Score winner for the season at the presentation. Sonny had had a wonderful season breaking the nine years boys 50m freestyle record at his school and zone carnivals. He qualified for state swimming for three events and made the Speedo and Brophy team.
Terry Lawrence’s coaches award was present to Matilde who trained hard and was extremely consistent this season and topped it off with making the Riverina team for state swimming in two relays.
Newest life members of the club are Dycinta and Troy Lee.
The club is proud to have these two new life members on board who were presented with their badges at the presentation night.
This couple have played a pivotal role in club for many years serving in numerous roles. They accommodate all the4 club’s many requests and are only too happy to lend a helping hand whenever asked.
2025/26 club person of the year was Brodie Morton.
“Nothing is ever too much to ask for Brodie. She’s one of the first to show up on club night and one of the last to leave. She keeps everyone happy and fed on the barbecue each Tuesday night. She single-handedly delivered the club’s catering to everyone on carnival day. Brodie never expects anything in return and a club spokesperson said they couldn’t think of a more deserving winner for the award.
