All roads led to Barellan when hundreds of competitors from throughout NSW and interstate participated in the recent 2026 Barellan Masters Games.
Competitors strived for glory during the Games in the place where world-famous tennis player Evonne Goolagong-Cawley once called home.
Despite being small in population, Barellan packs a punch when staging sporting events, with the Masters Games providing a fun-filled weekend which boosts the town and participants’ spirits each year.
Since it started in 2010, interest in the event has grown in popularity.
The Games originated from the success of the Barellan Centenary Celebrations in 2009 when the sports-minded townspeople felt Barellan needed an annual event which brings people to the town and encourages the Master generation (those over 30 years old) to remain active and involved and to promote fellowship.
This year’s Master Blaster award, which is awarded to the competitor who gains the highest number of points in was shared.
The 2026 Master Blasters in equal first place were Karla Jamieson and Brad Hornery who both finished with a total of 10 points.
