The Narrandera Carpheads (all out for 112) lost against Ardlethan Beckom (9/113) in the Ardlethan Barellan District Cricket Association Grand Final last Saturday at the Ardlethan Recreation Ground.
Onlookers described the match as the best premiership decider to be played for a long time when they witnessed Ardlethan Beckom claim their fourth consecutive premiership.
Narrandera batted first, with James Sullivan starring with the bat with an unbeaten 58 not out at the end of Narrandera’s innings.
Ardlethan Beckom’s best bowlers were Angus Green (4/19 off 10) overs and Aiden Cattle (3/17).
In the run chase, Ardlethan Beckom were in trouble at one stage at 8/57 at the end of 20 overs.
Captain Paddy Bray finished as Ardlethan Beckom’s highest run scorer with 45 runs.
Beau Rees was 19 not out when he hit the winning runs for Ardlethan Beckom.
Best of the Carpheads’ bowlers included Mark Tilyard (4/21) and Archer Quinn (2/9).
After the game, the Association’s Cricketer of the Year award went to Mitch Hawker from the Kamarah Cricket Club.
