Finishing as minor premiers earned the Narrandera Imperial Eagles’ Football Netball Club Under 18 team the week off last weekend, but the teenage Eagles will be back in action on Saturday.

They will take on the Mangoplah Cookardinia United Eastlakes Goannas in their Riverina Football League Qualifying Final at Narrandera Sportsground at 10am.

The winner will advance straight to this year’s Grand Final, which is scheduled for 12 September at Narrandera Sportsground.

Meanwhile, the Eagles Under 16s were crowned premiers following their demolition of the Coleambally Blues in last Saturday’s South West Junior Football League Grand Final.

The Under 16s Eagles 27.18 (180) defeated the Blues 3.3 (21) at the Coleambally Sports Grounds.

Undefeated throughout the season, the young Eagles saved their best performance for the final game of the year, with one of the highlights being a 10-goal haul from Archer Quinn.

They raced away to a 34-point lead at the end of the opening quarter after restricting the Blues to just two behinds, while kicking six goals themselves.

In the following quarter, the Eagles were even better, adding another eight goals and seven behinds to go to the main break leading by 83 points.

With the premiership tightly in their grasp, the Eagles were ruthless after the restart.

They showed no signs of easing off, kicking eight goals and two behinds in the third quarter and could have broken the 200-point

barrier in the final quarter if they were more accurate in front of the goalposts.

Booting five goals and nine behinds in the fourth quarter took the Eagles’ tally to 45 scoring shots, compared with their opponents’ six, sealing a 159-point victory and Grand Final glory.

The goal kickers for the Eagles included Archer Quinn (10), Judd Powell (5), Emmett Smith (4), Riley Dunstan (2) and one each for Ruben Bamblett, Bryce Hetherington, Ross Durnan, Liam Tait, Zachariah Hutchison and Max Smith.

Their best players were Jed Scott, Emmett Smith, Laim Tait, Judd Powell, Andrew Bonnett, Bryce Hetherington and Nate Briggs.
