Young people across the Narrandera Shire are invited to take part in an exciting lineup of free activities this Youth Week, designed to build practical skills, explore career pathways, and connect with local businesses.
Open to young people aged 12 to 24, the program offers a mix of hands-on experiences and accredited training opportunities, all delivered locally.
The Youth Week program begins with free driving lessons running from 30 March to 7 April. These sessions are available to learner drivers aged 16 to 24 and aim to help build confidence and safe driving skills.
A range of interactive activities will follow:
16 April, 10am – Pizzeria Experience at Narrandera Pizzeria
Participants will go behind the scenes to learn how the business operates, what it takes to gain employment, and create their own pizza.
17 April, 10am – Barista Course at Blue Apron Restaurant
Learn how to make coffee, operate a machine, and develop rea café skills. Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
22 April, 4.30pm – Hands on Hairdressing at Rae & Raine Hair Salon
Step inside a working salon, explore career pathways, and gain practical, hands-on experience.
23 April, 8.30am – Responsible Service of Alcohol at Narrandera Library Youth Space
Gain essential certification required to work in bars, pubs and events. Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
24 April, 9am – Responsible Conduct of Gambling at Narrandera Bowling Club
Complete certification needed for roles involving gaming machines in clubs and pubs.
All activities are free; however, places are limited, and bookings are essential.
This year’s program highlights the important of supporting young people to gain real-world skills, build confidence, and explore future employment opportunities within the local community.
