The Narrandera Rod Run marked a huge milestone this year, as Jim Wolstencroft finally brought his A Model pickup out for its very first rod run here after eight years of dedication and hard work. Jim also plays a role is putting on this rod run.
What started as a long-term project in the shed turned into a proud moment when he was finally able to drive his hot rod on the streets.
But it wasn’t just a solo effort – along the way, a great group of men and women regularly came together at Deluxe Rod Shop, where Jim works, giving up their weekends to lend a hand and help bring the build to life, many of those helpers are entrants of the rod run here this weekend.
The A Model pickup isn’t just a car – it’s a story of persistence, community, craftsmanship, and passion for the hot rod scene.
After nearly a decade of work, seeing it completed and driving among fellow enthusiasts made its unveil at Motorex in Melbourne even more meaningful – a true testament to sticking with a vision and the power of people coming together to make it happen.
The pick up is a hand made all steel body with a 289 Windsor, C10 transmission and a Ford 9” rearend. It is sitting on a hand made chassis, with stainless steel exhaust, stainless steel triangulated rearend and a SoCal front end.
Along the way Jim has picked up may awards and accolades this includes winning Top Hot Rod at best hot rod show in Austalia the Sydney hot rod show as well as many other awards there, he has been a Meguire’s superstars invite and collected a top 10 at Queenscliff rod run, just to name a few.
There are many people Jim would like to thank for helping him along this journey Glenn Chidgey, David Baird, Steven Llyod, Dain and Kelly Souter, Bridget, Cam and Steven and Kathleen Alldrick.
