Beautiful weather graced Narrandera on Saturday for the annual TC Lee Memorial Race Day - the final programmed meeting to be hosted by Narrandera Race Club in 2026.

A good crowd turned out to enjoy the action both on and off the track, while the Peter Bloomfield Memorial Trainer and Jockey Premierships were also decided.

Peter’s wife, Carmel Bloomfield, was on hand to present the awards to each winner in honour of her late husband.

Brodie Loy finished on 19.5 points to claim a clear victory in the Jockey Premiership, while a late rally from the Paul McVicar stable saw the Trainer Premiership go right down to the final race.

McVicar had already trained two winners on the program before Deebaa, ridden by Blaike McDougall, finished second behind Deekaygeebee in the 1200m Benchmark 50 Handicap.

The result was enough for McVicar to share the Trainer Premiership with Narrandera Cup-winning trainer Craig Weeding, with the two stables finishing level on 14 points.

While Saturday’s meeting is the end of Narrandera’s season, it means the club and hard-working committee will now be focuses on track and facility upgrades ahead of the 2027 season.
