The Barellan Two Blues have maintained their top-three position on the Farrer League ladder following a come from behind victory when beating the Temora Kangaroos 10.11 (71) to 10.7 (67) in round seven of the competition.
The Two Blues trailed by three goals at half-time but fought back for an important win at Nixon Park.
Sean Ellis, Hugh McKenzie, Jack Hillman, Lachlan Killalea, Mitchell Irvin and Dwayne Campbell were best on ground, while there were 10 individual goal kickers for the Two Blues.
In a sour note coming out of Barellan’s good win over Temora, Jack Hillman was reported for a tackle that resulted in Temora's Rob Grant being stretchered off and taken to hospital
The tackle was graded as careless, high contact and high impact. It results in a three-game suspension but Hillman can accept two games with an early guilty plea. The Argus had not received confirmation of the club’s intention at the time of publishing.
In other round 7 Farrer League matches, Marrar defeated Northern Jets 8.15 (63) to 8.6 (54), EWK defeated CSU 8.11 (59) to 5.5. (35) and North Wagga defeated Coleambally 12.20 (92) to 2.4 (16)
Barellan’s reserves weren’t so lucky against Temora on Saturday, going down 11.16 (82) to 6.1 (37).
The Two Blues footballers are back at home on Saturday when hosting the strong EWK Hawks in round eight of the competition.

Barellan’s lower grades shine in netball
The Barellan Two Blues netballers might have fallen to the table-topping Temora Kangaroos at Nixon Park on Saturday, but the club won more games than they lost, with A-Reserves, B-Grade and C-Grade all landing good wins.
Barellan will have every chance of landing more wins on Saturday in round eight of the competition when hosting the struggling East Wagga-Kooringal Hawks at Barellan Sports Ground.
Under 17s
Despite missing a few key players, Barellan’s under 17s still demonstrated fine form again the Temora Kangaroos on Saturday before going down 27-15.
Players Player was awarded to Charlee King for her dominant performance in defence.
With her keen ability to predict play, Charlee was able to make several turn overs of play.
Daisy Halden’s continued improvement and willingness to learn was recognised, and she was the recipient of the Coaches Award. Daisy's sportsmanship and team spirit is also very admirable.
C-Grade
Barellan’s C-Grade displayed their continuing improvement on the weekend, managing to secure a five-goal win, and their forth for the season thus far when beating Temora 33-28.
Their very own mother-daughter duo took out both awards this week.
Dakota Smith was awarded Players Player for her tireless efforts and ‘never give up’ attitude.
Dakota also worked in excellent partnership with her mother, Christie.
Christie’s experience and expertise enabled her to dictate play in and around the goal circle to enable smooth and accurate passing with her teammates. For her efforts, Christie was the recipient of the Coaches Award.
B-Grade
In another dominant performance, B-Grade also secured their fourth win of the season, beating Temora 39-22.
In an excellent display of skill, determination and sportsmanship, Bailee McDonald was the recipient of both the Players Player and Coaches Award. Well done, Bailee!
A-Reserve
In a fast-paced game, Barellan’s A-Reserve team put on a great show against Temora, winning 43-23.
Barellan demonstrated their cohesiveness which allowed for rapid and effective transition of play throughout the court.
In a standout performance, Claudia Schmetzer was dominate in Wing Defence, providing valuable pressure over the ball and taking several crucial intercepts.
For this reason, Claudia was recognised by her teammates and was awarded Players Player.
Casey Brown worked tirelessly all game, not only displaying her great skill, but also providing valuable direction for her teammates.
Casey’s ability to dictate play and communicate with her team earnt her the Coaches Award.
A-Grade
Barellan’s A-Grade faced the current ladder toppers, and were outclassed by a very well drilled side Temora side.
Despite this, Barellan was able to shift their momentum in the second half of the game.
For her excellent defensive pressure, Brooke Anderson was awarded Players Player by her teammates.
Emma Woolnough’s supportive team spirit provided a valuable morale boost throughout the entirety of the game. For this, she was the recipient of the Coaches Award.
