A car allegedly stolen from Wagga recently was recovered in Narrandera and a suspect arrested after a police foot chase.

NSW Police allege that the blue Hyundai was parked on Barrand Street, Wagga, near the owner’s workplace. She left the vehicle there after discovering her keys were missing.

At about 8.30am the next day, the owner returned and found the vehicle was missing and reported this to police.

At 6.30pm on the Saturday officers on patrol along Irrigation Way, Narrandera, identified the vehicle travelling west.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly pulled over and fled on foot before being arrested a short time later.

The 27-year-old man was taken to Narrandera Police Station where he allegedly returned a positive drug test.

He was charged with being a never-licensed person driving on the road, driving a vehicle with an illicit drug present in his blood and taking and driving a conveyance without the consent of the owner.

He was refused bail by police to appear at the Parramatta Bail Court where he was formally refused bail to appear before Narrandera Local Court on 25 March.
