Narrandera Race Club won a Most Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of their hard work at the 2023 NSW Racing Conference.

The conference spanned three days, with a seminar on Thursday, a presentation on Friday and a networking night to conclude the event on Saturday.

Both the seminar and presentation took place at the NSW Racing Head Office in Sydney, with approximately 80 of the 125 race clubs in NSW in attendance.

Racing Manager of NRC Michael Bailey expressed the club’s immense pride in its accomplishment after months of dedication and hard work.

“We are very proud of this achievement after the hard work we’ve done over the 12-15 months,” he said.

“We were programmed to host six races, but we ran 13 in that period of time, with seven of the races put together within 24 hours of notice. We were overwhelmed with congratulations and questions about how we did it for such a small club in Narrandera.”

The past couple of months have undoubtedly been some of the NRC’s busiest and most successful.

The club managed to make the Narrandera Cup a qualifier for the Big Dance race to be held in Sydney next month, boasting a $3million prize pool.

The event also attracted the finest horses to ever compete on the Narrandera track, leaving a lasting mark in the racing world.

This year, the club also upgraded its facilities, including a new judges' box, sky tower and amenities block for racegoers.

Mr Bailey said they hope to give back more to the community in the coming years, allowing the town to share in the club’s achievements.

“Next year, we’re looking to become more involved with other town events so that we can promote the town further, as racing is such a significant industry and we have thousands of people looking at ours and the NSW Racing website,” he said.

“We’re striving to give back to the community because racing is often seen as taking away, and I think we’re on the right track... it’s something the entire town can take pride in, not just the club.”
