Narrandera is gearing up for one of its biggest nights of the year, with the Narrandera Spring Fair returning on Saturday 7 November. From 6pm to 9.30pm, East and Bolton Streets will come alive with food, music, markets and family fun in a colourful celebration of community spirit. The event, organised by the Narrandera Business Chamber, is supported by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program Grant, Murrumbidgee Irrigation and Devlin’s Bridge Wind Farm helping deliver the Fair’s most vibrant and inclusive program yet. One of the most exciting additions to this year’s lineup is the arrival of Millie Ross, well known to gardening fans across Australia. Millie’s inventive, hands on approach to gardening has made her a standout on Gardening Australia, where she champions creative construction, sustainable materials and playful, biodiverse garden design. She’s also the author of The Thrifty Gardener, a much loved guide that encourages people to build the garden they want with whatever they’ve got. Millie’s philosophy is as joyful as her gardens. “The garden is where I live my life,” she says. “It’s where I cultivate ideas and play, have conversations and celebrate… We harvest something for every meal from the garden. It’s part of every moment, good and bad, and I feel immensely grateful for having it.” Her appearance at the Spring Fair gives locals a rare chance to hear from one of Australia’s most original gardening thinkers someone whose passion for sustainability and creativity fits perfectly with the spirit of the event. The Food & Market Precinct, delivered with The Country Maker Markets, will feature street food, sweet treats and handmade goods from Riverina makers. Music from Dubbo band Under the Radar and local performers will keep the streets buzzing all night. Families can enjoy amusements, petting zoo, face painting, yard games, Putt Putt golf, creative workshops and the popular Guru Dudu Silent Disco. Community favourites return too the community Dancing in the Streets segment, the barbecue challenge and the Narrandera Auto Club’s Show N Shine. Inclusive transport options will ensure everyone can attend, with the Lions Club Train offering Fair day routes and the Narrandera Flag Minibus providing free transport for those who need it. Bigger, brighter and full of local pride, the Narrandera Spring Fair is set to be an unmissable night for the whole region.
