Narrandera Shire Council has announced that following recent changes by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), card companies including Visa and Mastercard have announced they’ll prohibit businesses from charging customers a surcharge on card payments.

As a result, from Thursday 1 October, DEFT payments by credit or debit card will no longer be available as a payment method.

This change applies to both one-off payments and recurring direct debit arrangements set up with a card.

Customers can continue to make DEFT payments via BPAY, deft.com.au and through Australia Post.
