As reported in last week’s Narrandera Argus the 2025 Narrandera Cup carnival was a huge success, with over 800 patrons making it one of the biggest winter racing carnivals south of Sydney.
Canberra trainer Luke Pepper won the $70,000 Community Bank Narrandera Cup at the Narrandera races just gone with Hot Bandit.
The horse is now eligible for the $3 million Big Dance at Royal Randwick on 4 November.
Narrandera Race Club President Graeme Mathieson thanked Racing NSW for the support in staging the club’s third Big Dance Qualifier and showcase Community Bank Narrandera Cup meeting.
“The meeting was a great success, the best yet held,” he said.
“A big thank you to all the committee, community volunteers, workers and wonderful sponsors who make it all happen. There are too many volunteers to mention in case we miss out on someone.
“It was a fantastic day for Narrandera and District Community and for local racing and country racing in general.
“Thank you, Mr V’landys, for the ongoing support and evolution of racing from the grassroots in the country upwards,” Mr Mathieson concluded.
The next meeting is on Saturday, 16 August, when the club hosts the final meeting of its 2025 winter of racing.
The program, headlined by the TC Lee Memorial Cup, is a six-race Sky 2 program.
