Man charged with using a tractor and disc plough to tear up golf course at Dunedoo

A man has been charged after allegedly ploughing a golf course in the state’s Central West.

Police believe it was about 8pm on April 27, that a man drove a tractor towing a disc plough to a golf course at Dunedoo, 90km north-east of Dubbo,

It is alleged the man used the machinery to plough most of the course’s fairways and greens, causing extensive damage.

He then drove the tractor from the scene; however, the hydraulic disc plough left behind on one of the greens.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were notified and commenced inquiries.

About 9am on April 28, police arrested a 34-year-old man at a property on Ballinda Road, north of Dunedoo.

While at the property, police seized two unregistered firearms.

The man was arrested and taken to Dunedoo Police Station, where he was charged with:

  • Destroy or damage property
  • Use etc offensive weapon w/i to commit indictable offence
  • Enter enclosed non-agricultural lands interfere etc business
  • Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, and
  • Possess unauthorised firearm.

The man appeared before Mudgee Local Court on April 28, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before the same court on Wednesday 5 May 2021.
