High hopes for a winning streak

Narrandera Carpheads teams are hoping to record wins at the weekend. It’s only the second match for B Grade.

The Narrandera Carpheads A Grade team will be looking to make it two wins on the trot this weekend when they take on Leeton and District Ferrets in a 40 over match at Marie Bashir Park in Narrandera.

A Grade captain Brent Lawrence said that registering a win last weekend was a good step in the right direction for the team.

“Even though until last weekend we had a few losses in a row I have been super impressed with my players as we have fought hard every game and not just thrown the towel in. Every game we lost was by narrow margins.”

“It’s now just a matter of registering a few more victories before Christmas and getting a consistent team on the paddock every week to make a strong challenge in the second half of the season,” Lawrence said.

There will be only one change to last Saturday’s winning team with Lachie Jess unavailable due to family commitments. Play will commence at 1pm at the Park this Saturday.

The Narrandera B Grade Carpheads are looking forward to getting back into the 35 over format this Saturday.

With a forfeit and a bye Narrandera Carps have only played one match this year, so captain Dave Kroek said it would be good for players to test themselves against last year’s premiers.

“There will be lots of changes to our side but will be looking to experienced players like Ash Cabban and Tom Butterfield to lead the way. Also the return of Cooper Irons will be a big help, especially in the bowling department,” Kroek said.

“Hopefully we get some good weather and have a bit if fun.”
