Swimmers, volunteers recognised

Some of the award winning swimmers and volunteers who helped make this season of swimming club a success.

The two top honours at this year’s Narrandera Swimming Club’s presentation evening were awarded to Katelyn Johnson and Tamra Beaumont.

Katelyn Johnson was recognised as 2017/2018 swimmer of the year for her efforts in training, carnival swimming and club nights.

Runner -up swimmer of the year was Paige Godden.

Life member of the club Helen McDermott, after whom the award is named, presented the swimmer of the year and runner -up swimmer of the year awards.

Tamra Beaumont was honoured as club person of the year, with her award being presented by club life member Jan Waters.

As a parent, Tamra has been a long standing club member for the past 17 years since her eldest children began swim club and still assists. She is a committee member, learn to swim teacher and parent volunteer.

This year encouragement awards were presented to Jaspar Beaumont, Jasmine Fraser, Tahlia Gilbert, Inneka Hutchins, Tennyson Lee, Sydney Maver, Hannah McDonald, Jessica Write, Jaida-Lee Lyons, Heath Chappell, Blake Lawrence and Dylan Johnson.

Each of the learn to swim groups also presented awards and they went to Hannah Vos, Chelsea Lawrence, Mackenzie Lee, Chloe Vidler, Harrison Rowe, Imogen Wooden, Ruby Foley, Sienna Duncan, Braxton Davy, Xanthe Hutchins, Isabelle Craig, Tom Pendergast, Oliver Brewer, Joe Irons, Jayden McDonald, Emily McDonald and Lucy Rowlings.

Thank you gifts were also presented to the weekly barbecue helpers and to committee members.

Club president Simon Lee thanked all those who had played a part in the club in this past year and also encouraged parents to become part of the committee when the next AGM is held in October.

He presented a special president’s award to Maree Fraser who this past season volunteered in the role of carnival secretary and along with husband Craig co-ordinated the timing at the local carnival including updating of the timing system.

Lee also praised the efforts of the two club coaches Terry Lawrence and Beth Chappell who donate their time, and to all of the learn two swim teachers who have participated in the weekly learn to swim lessons or the January intensive learn to swim.

All swimmers from the past squad season also received certificates with their fastest times in each event.
