The Narrandera Eagles Reserves had another win this week against Coolamon in a home game.
The Reserves were ahead 98-57 at the final siren.
“The feeling’s there,” said Reserves coach Shaun Gehringer.
“Everyone’s up and about. We’ve got a few more members this year, which helps.
“Last year we were relying on the younger ones to play two games, whereas this year the members are back in all sides, so it’s making a difference.”
Gehringer said the Reserves side were getting along and playing well together.
“It’s just that everyone’s bonded and we’ve got a good group of blokes playing.
“It’s a lot more enjoyable, especially that we’ve had a few wins early – that makes people come back to the club.
“A lot of people have gotten behind the club this year and that helps a lot in all three grades.
“Everyone’s just playing their role on the footy field, which is why we’re doing so well so early in the year,” Gehringer said.
The Seniors and the U17s both had losses on the weekend, although the Seniors are noticing a marked improvement.
Coolamon had to work hard to get an advantage, after the Eagles were in front in the first quarter.
New recruit Damian Williams earned his stripes, kicking four goals for the Eagles.
“We feel as though it’s all starting to come together,” Seniors coach and captain Jarrod Lane said.
“We’re definitely starting to see signs of improvement. Some of our young blokes are starting to play some really good footy. It’s all there.
“On the weekend we just didn’t take our opportunities.
“We did well in the first half, but we just didn’t capitalise on the opportunities we created, which makes it hard.
“We’ve got another big game on the weekend against Ganmain Grong Grong Matong, which is a good opportunity for us to keep improving, and hopefully a chance for a win,” Lane said.
Last weekend was the first win for Coolamon so far in the season.
The Seniors, Reserves and U17s will play GGGM at the Ganmain Sportsground on Saturday.
Narrandera juniors – the U11s, U13s and U15s – will have a home game against Temora.
