The Narrandera Race Club is looking to make some positive changes for the 2018 racing season including changes to the Face of Racing competition.
This year the Faces of Narrandera Racing will be open to couples, a move that the club is hoping will encourage more men to get involved.
“What a wonderful opportunity for a young person,” said Rosie Beeche, who has taken on the organisation of the Face of Racing for 2018.
“We’re really looking for someone who can be an ambassador for the race club. It’s a prestigious position for a racing enthusiast – but it’s in a very social, friendly environment.”
The opportunities are huge for a person to create networks in the region, all while under the care of the Narrandera Race Club. As the Race Club has a large number of corporate sponsors, the Face of Racing provides a fine opportunity to create a good impression with a lot of local businesses.
“It’s a way to increase your profile, and it’s a real confidence-booster. You meet and greet all manner of people, and you don’t know who you might meet and where it might take you.”
The winner – or the winning couple – walks away with over $2,500 in prizes.
“They get a media photo shoot, they get their hair and make-up done. They get a membership to the race club, flowers, chocolates, morning teas and luncheons with everything
provided. Their outfit for the day is supplied to them and they get $500 cash,” Ms Beeche said.
The winner, or winners, will be used in promotional material for the race club, including posters, flyers, television, radio and social media.
Entry is available to anyone over the age of 18 years with a Narrandera postcode. Entry this year closes on March 29, due to changes to this year’s racing schedule.
Forms to enter are available now from Robinson’s Department Store, QPL Rural and Country Flair.
The winner will be announced at the Face of Racing Dinner on May 26.
