Heat took its toll on Round Five of the Malibu Waterski Tournament at Lake Talbot but Wagga’s Callan Ashcroft dominated the open events.
Competitors travelled to Narrandera from Wagga, Albury, Deniliquin, Canberra, Moree, Lockhart, Sydney and Mulwala for the series.
Two of the major trophy winners were Most Improved Zone 5 Junior joint winners Ada Richards, Lockhart, and Georgia Pigdon, Albury, while Most Outstanding Performance went to Callan Ashcroft, Wagga.
A squad of junior skiers are now off to New Zealand to represent Australia at the Aussie-Kiwi Challenge.
Competition got underway on Saturday with the mini course slalom followed by tricks and the main slalom, and two rounds of jump. The heatwave proved draining for both skiers and spectators, taking to the water seeking relief.
Skiing got underway on Sunday with the second round of Mini Course slalom then tricks followed by final round of Slalom. There were many skiers who achieved their personal best scores in different events.
The committee thanked the volunteers, caterers and officials working under challenging conditions, and for skiers for their support of the tournament.
