The Junior Lizards wrapped up their season with their final games recently. It was a strong finish for the juniors, with four teams walking away with wins, and two going down by single tries.
The under 9 boys played against Yenda, and were able to walk away with a big win. The under 8 boys also won against the Griffith Waratahs.
The under 7 girls played Darlington Point and all took turns to score a try, which gave them a win, while the under 6 side played the Griffith Black and Whites and had a dominating win over them.
The under 9 girls played Leeton and went try for try, but unfortunately went down by one try in the end. The junior teams are traditionally non-competitive, with few games having official scores.
The under 13s boys side is a composite team, with a combination of players from Narrandera and from Griffith Black and White.
The side played against Leeton. With the Leeton team going in undefeated all year it was a tough one, but with a few tough calls going against the Black and Whites they went down in a close match, 24-28.
It was one of the most successful years in memory for junior rugby league in Narrandera. This year the juniors had a record number of players, with over 100 kids signing up to play this season.
The numbers of girls playing rugby, either as minileague tag or league tag, swelled as well. For the first time this year the club had enough players to field an under 15s league tag team, enabling female players to continue their rugby league experience well into high school.
This year one Lizards team was also selected to play a half-time game in Canberra, during a Canberra Raiders premier-league NRL match.
