Eagles bring the fight

The Senior Eagles had a mixed game, rallying in the first and third quarters, going down by less than six goals to the Goannas.

The Under 17s Eagles were much more dominant on the field, beating Mangoplah 10.14.74 to 4.7.31.

Narrandera Eagles first grade team staged a fightback against Mangoplah-Cookardinia United Eastlakes at the Narrandera Sportsground on Saturday to go down 117 to 83 points.

Best players for the Eagles seniors were Cooper Irons, Corey Baxter, Matthew Renet, Stephen Irons, Drew Kenna and Nick O’Brien.

Baxter scored five goals, captain-coach Jarred Lane and Matthew Renet two each, Joe Grinter, Drew Kenna, youngsters Jack Grintell and Cooper Irons one each.

However, the Eagles won their reserve grade and under 17s football games as well as the A Grade and A Grade Reserves Netball games, also played at Narrandera. Together with these successes, the annual  Denim and Glitter Ladies Day staged by the Eagles made up for the seniors loss, with a great day had by all according to reports.

Reserves won 80-36, under 17s 74 to 31, and the Eagles netballers also successful with wins to the A grade netballers 48 to 45 and A Reserve netballers 50 to 41. Losses were recorded in the minor netball grades.

Narrandera has the bye for this Saturday June 8 and will play Turvey Park the following Saturday at Maher Oval, Wagga Wagga.
