Bidgee Classic Invitational Fours

Around 120 bowlers came to Narrandera for the Bidgee Classic Invitational Fours.

Narrandera Bowling andRecreation Club hosted another very successful 14th Bidgee Classic Invitational Fours.

Bowlers started rolling into Narrandera on Friday to settle in for a very enjoyable Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

Around 120 bowlers travelled from around Melbourne, Sydney, South Coast, Country NSW, Victoria, ACT and throughout the local bowling districts to take part in the three day tournament. The journey for some teams takes over six hours but they are very happy to make the trip each year to take part in this prestigious tournament with a very impressive prize pool of $10,000.

Bob Blackshaw, Chair of the Bidgee Classic Committee, is extremely happy with how the 2018 tournament went. His committee, club management, board members, staff and volunteers, strive to make each year better than the last.

Many bowlers placing their names down already for 2019’s Classic is testament to how enjoyable and well received the tournament is. And with greens in the immaculate condition that they are, why wouldn’t they want to come back?

The tournament would not be possible without the support of the Bowling Club’s wonderful sponsors. For their sponsorship, be in financial or in-kind, the club are extremely grateful for their continued assistance. Thank you all.

Neville Corby, Russell Thompson, Allan O’Neil and Wayne Croker came all the way from Goulburn for the Bidgee Classic.

The club would also like to thank the many accommodation providers and local businesses in Narrandera for looking after our guests so well.

Club members received nothing but positive comments from the guests during their stay. According to their feedback, they love coming to Narrandera for the friendly community, welcoming and comfortable accommodation, great shopping and sight seeing.

The kitchen staff and volunteer teams worked faultlessly over the three days providing a delicious menu, starting with country style breakfasts each day to a huge range of evening dinners. A must on the menu is Bek’s old-fashioned winter warming soups that are always provided to the bowlers on the chilly days.

Sameera was back with us again this year to give everyone an enjoyable Sunday night. A huge thank you to Sameera for her, as always, superb entertainment.

So at the end of another fantastic Bidgee Classic Invitational Fours, the Narrandera Bowling Club want to extend their thanks.

Firstly to the 120 bowlers for taking part, to the sponsors for their highly valued support for the tournament and the Club’s management, board and staff for everything they do. The club would also like to thank the many volunteers who contribute so much of their time and effort over the weekend, not to mention the greenkeepers and grounds team.

The winners of the Bidgee Invitational Fours (in no order) Mark Riddell, Darren Clarke, John Williamson, and Shaun Snudden with Club President Terry Roach.
