Narrandera Cricket B Grade Carpheads redeemed themselves this weekend with a resounding victory over Leeton Soldiers Club Colts, 168 runs to 89, at Leeton on Saturday.
Narrandera started really badly, losing Ash Cabban in the first over, but Jono Schofield and Dillion Penhall consolidated and both batted really well, putting on 84 and set the Carpheads up for a big total.
Carps’ captain Dave Kroek said it was good to get a few himself (Kroek scored 32) and the lower order chipped in well to get the team to 168.
“We wanted to take early wickets and Brodie Perram and Jack Williamson started strongly for us, particularly Jack,” said Kroek.
“We had them 7-30 odd and probably should have finished them off but a couple of their guys put on a decent partnership.”
Kroek said it was good to see a couple of younger guys bowl well in the middle.
Cooper Irons was unlucky not to score a few but it was his first game so he will be better for the run.
“It was just an overall good team performance – everyone did a bit behind Jono and Jack as the standouts, and we had a good win so we’re all happy.”
Narrandera face the Phantoms next week so will look to build on this win and improve come Saturday.
